Open Space Committee
The Ogden Town Board formed an Open Space Committee in 2004 to review the preservation of open space in the Town of Ogden. The committee is chaired by Town Councilman David Feeney. The committee values input from all members of the community and in 2004 asked community members for their opinions via a questionnaire. An Open Space Plan was adopted in 2006.
Open Space Implementation Committee
In order to implement the Open Space Plan that was adopted in 2006, the town board appointed an Open Space Implementation Committee in 2007. This committee consists of individuals who have technical qualifications in areas related to land use, drainage issues and topographical expertise.
The following qualified representatives were appointed: a farmer, a developer, the highway superintendent, the building inspector, two conservation board members, the planning board chairman who is also an engineer and two town board members, who are past chairmen of the planning and zoning boards. The town also hired a local consultant who is well versed in open space implementation.
The committee is working on and has developed criteria for saving certain properties for open space and is now in the process of identifying those areas of our community. Once completed, public input will be requested.
